Keynote Reinforces Leadership in Global Site Monitoring With Support for Web 2.0

Application Perspective 4.0 Introduces Custom Scripting and Precise Content Validation

• Application Perspective 4.0 Goes Beyond Uptime and Responsiveness to Validate Proper Content Being Served
• High-Volume Transaction Monitoring Service Allows Simpler Script Management and User Profiling
• Broad Geographic Coverage Increased to Add More Locations in China and Europe

San Mateo, Calif., March 15, 2006 — Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the worldwide leader in services that improve online business performance and communications technologies, underscored its premier position in Web performance monitoring with the launch today of Application Perspective® 4.0, that introduces enhanced monitoring capabilities for applications built for what is being increasingly referred to as Web 2.0.

Application Perspective 4.0 is the in the industry`s most comprehensive, high frequency end-to-end Web application monitoring platform both for distributed geographic monitoring, as well as internal validation of proper application response.

The new version of Application Perspective provides increased capabilities to help enterprise customers go beyond measuring uptime and responsiveness all the way to precise content validation and multiple user profiling by geography in a single script. New monitoring locations have also been added in Europe, China and South America, reinforcing Keynote`s market leadership and continued investment in its infrastructure as well as addressing the anticipated growth in demand from Keynote`s global customers.

"The new Internet is far more fluid, interactive and far-reaching than before. For those using it — as communicators, businesses, marketers, or customers in search of information of all kinds—there has to be a way to decisively measure, monitor and improve the online experience," said Vik Chaudhary, vice president of marketing and corporate development at Keynote. "The enhancements to Application Perspective are directly aimed at that challenge."

The Internet has evolved to become much more than individuals performing simple tasks or searches. It is also computers communicating with other computers. It is about automation. It is a highly programmable model that can respond immediately to a variety of request in all sorts of ways — all dependent on specific user profiles and complex criteria that demand highly dynamic, targeted responses.

Application Perspective 4.0 expands custom scripting to address the need to measure performance in a more comprehensive manner because of the adoption of interactive Internet applications — such as those using Ajax, Flash and Advanced JavaScript — with content being served from multiple sources such as ad servers and content distribution servers.

Using Application Perspective, operations managers can understand not only if the correct application response was delivered, but also if the correct content was presented to the user. Application Perspective customers can create one script to address multiple user group profiles in a variety of locations assuring that content is delivered with the correct profile in the correct location, taking into account subtle differences that arise from one region of the world to another. This is particularly important for global companies who need to localize content in an efficient manner and be able to keep close tabs on it to ensure accuracy.

"We needed more intelligent responses from our monitoring, which not only gives us performance and availability statistics, but also indications of the source of a problem," said Elton Anderson, senior director of system operations at Korn/Ferry International. "The ability to immediately understand which layer (Web, database, etc.) of an application is running slowly and get the trouble ticket to the right group efficiently is very valuable to us."

?Once you start serving more complex Internet applications, just link checking is woefully inadequate," said Andi Mann, senior analyst, Enterprise Management Associates. "The ability to monitor and validate content served from various sources and customize scripts for specific user groups in an efficient way is crucial. It helps the enterprise manage interactive Internet applications and assure that the complexity does not interfere with the end user experience."

Internet applications are becoming more interactive and customizable with each Web site attempting to gain a competitive edge. The programmable Internet presents a challenge to balance rich experience with application availability that must be measured, monitored and served around the clock in order to ensure that it all works. Operational monitoring from outside the firewall, which exposes the real end user experience, is essential for getting to the correct level of triage and reporting.

The Keynote Application Perspective service is the ideal one for the enterprise customer who wishes to enhance end user experience, reduce the mean time to respond and repair and maximize the return on existing IT investments.
