Trax Retail Solutions Announces CISP and PCI Credit Card Security Compliance for Loss Prevention Suite

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – March 16, 2006 – Trax® Retail Solutions, the market leader in loss prevention, store operations control, and profit optimization solutions for the retail industry announced today that ShrinkTrax and DM2 have met and exceeded all credit card storage requirements necessary to comply with the Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) from VISA U.S.A.

Mandated since June 2001, CISP is intended to protect cardholder data–wherever it resides–ensuring that members, merchants, and service providers maintain the highest information security standard. In 2004, the CISP requirements were incorporated into an industry standard known as Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard resulting from a collaboration between Visa and MasterCard to create common industry security requirements. Tier 1 retailers (based on credit transaction volume) were required to be CISP compliant by 2005. By not complying, retailers face potential fines of up to $500K per non-compliant incident.

In compliance with CISP, ShrinkTrax and DM2 encrypt credit card information using a proprietary encryption process while still enabling identical card numbers to be searched. Other sensitive customer data such as customer name, PIN, and card-validation code are not stored. When drilling down to receipt level only the last four digits of the card are displayed to the end user. This ensures complete protection for the consumer.

“Our customers are under tremendous pressure to ensure that they appropriately protect consumer information. At Trax, we have undertaken to design and deliver systems that provide powerful analytics and exceed industry security standards for consumer information. Maintaining CISP compliance is just one of the necessary steps that Trax is taking to deliver best in class products to retailers,” said Jon Bolen, CIO of Trax Retail Solutions.

ShrinkTrax – known throughout the retail industry as the only proactive loss prevention solution guaranteed to prevent cashier and vendor-related shrink – before it happens. The intelligence-based technology automatically analyzes data points for every transaction throughout the store and provides actionable result sets in the form of exclusive plain-English narratives to users throughout the customer’s organization.

DM2 Advanced Data Mining – an enterprise exception reporting and open query system that removes the guesswork from traditional exception reporting practices. Through the use of exclusive intuitive analytics and unlimited user defined analytics, DM2 automatically searches hundreds of interrelated key performance indicators and pinpoints otherwise undetectable data abnormalities complete with transaction level detail and drilldown.
