Blair’s e-commerce channel sales are $67.8 million in first nine months
Blair Corp., a multi-channel direct marketer of apparel and home products, reported that its e-commerce channel generated $67.8 million in sales for the first nine months of the year, compared with $66.1 million during the first nine months of last year. The figures were reported with third quarter results released for the quarter ended September 30.
“We are pleased with the core operating results for the third quarter, which lend further credence to our strategic plans to better position Blair for growth,” says John Zawacki, CEO.
At $67.85, Blair’s online gross sales represent approximately 21% of its net sales of $326.5 million for the first nine months, which were down from $362.7 million in the first nine months last year. Blair`s results were affected by its decision to eliminate its Crossing Pointe catalog in March, and by a lower than anticipated response to its traditional letter mailings, according to the company.
For the first nine months, net income was $8.1 million, compared to $8.5 million last year. For the third quarter, Blair posted net income of $1.4 million on net sales of $98.1 million, compared with net income of $2.9 million on $107.1 million for the year-ago quarter.
In addition to its direct mail marketing program, Blair sells online at web sites Blair.com and Irvinepark.com.
