Second quarter web sales for PetMed Express Inc. totaled $21.2 million, up 42.3% from $14.9 million from the same quarter in 2005.
PetMed, No. 116 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, also acquired approximately 208,000 new customers during the second fiscal quarter compared to 154,000 new customers for the same quarter in the prior year.
"We are pleased to report that our retail new order sales increased by 35% to $14.7 million for the second fiscal quarter compared to $10.9 million for the same quarter in the prior year,” says CEO Menderes Akdag. “The advertising cost of acquiring a new customer for the second fiscal quarter was approximately $33 compared to $37 for the same quarter in the prior year.”
For the second quarter of the 2006 fiscal year, the web accounted for 55% of total sales of $38.7 million, compared with the second quarter of the prior fiscal year when e-commerce represented 52% of total sales of $28.8 million.
