Books-A-Million posts a 4.7% increase in Q2 web sales
Books-A-Million Inc. is reporting relatively flat second quarter and June through July e-commerce sales.
For the second quarter, Books-A-Million, No. 181 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, had total e-commerce sales of $6.6 million, up 4.7% from $6.3 million for the same quarter in 2004.
In the second quarter, the web accounted for 5.6% of total sales of $122.4 million vs. 5.8% of total sales of $113.4 million in the same period in 2004.
For the first half of 2005, e-commerce sales increased 3% to $13.1 million from $12.7 million for the same period in 2004.
For January through June, the web accounted for 6% of total sales of $232.2 million, the same proportion as a year wgo, when sales totaled $217.5 million.
Web sales were up slightly in part because of sales of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
