Akamai’s Q3 revenue rises 42% year over year
Akamai Technologies Inc., a content delivery network that makes images appear faster on web sites, said revenue rose 42% to $75.7 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, up from $53.3 million in the year-ago quarter. Q3 revenue rose 17% from $64.6 million in this year’s second quarter.
Q3 net income was $272.3 million, which included a one-time benefit of $255.3 million due to an accounting treatment related to a tax valuation allowance. In March, Akamai acquired content delivery network Speedera Networks Inc. for about $130 million in a stock transaction.
