Shopzilla and Shopping.com battle it out for the top of comparison site

Shopzilla.com barely edged out Shopping.com as the largest comparison shopping site on the Internet in September, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.

Shopzilla attracted 14.998 million unique visitors compared to Shopping.com’s 14.801 million. According to Nielsen/Netratings, the largest comparison shopping sites on the Internet in September, and their unique visitors in millions, were:

Yahoo! Shopping 11.135

The top three online retail categories in September ranked by purchases were:

1) Toys, Games & Hobbies with 8.9 million purchases, comprising 15.6% of total online purchases for the month
2) Apparel & Accessories with 8.2 million purchases, comprising 14.4%
3) Home & Garden with 7.6 million purchases, comprising 13.3%
