Zazzle broadens brand relationships with Confego acquisition

Online product personalization retailer Zazzle.com Inc. has acquired Confego Inc., a company that partners with large retail brands to offer customizable versions of their products. Terms were not disclosed.

Confego offers customized apparel, bags and footwear designed from the ground up. Company co-founders Brennan Mulligan and David Gross will make the move to Zazzle.com, No. 269 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Confego manages order fulfillment and shipping for large retailers such as Reebok, to offer customized versions of their products through the use of Confego’s proprietary software. The acquisition brings Zazzle the software and will continue Confego’s relationship with Reebok’s RBK Custom.

“This relationship marks the beginning of a new generation of customization for Zazzle,” says Robert Beaver, CEO and co-founder of Zazzle.com. “New brand partnerships mean new choices for our customers who are always looking for better means of self-expression,” he adds.

Confego has perfected the manufacturing and fulfillment process, allowing delivery of custom shoes in just one week, says Mulligan, Confego co-founder.
