Shopping.com launches a German comparison shopping site
Online comparison shopping site Shopping.com has launched a German site, http://de.shopping.com. The site debuted today with 300 German retailers and more than 2 million products in addition to proprietary content that includes store ratings, product reviews and the Trusted Stores program.
Shopping.com reports having signed both large well-known German retailers, as well as smaller retailers, in hundreds of categories, including Tchibo, Douglas, ProMarkt, Otto, CD Wow! and Weinversand.de.
According to researchers eMarketer inc., 52% of Germans use the Internet, the largest portion of any country within the European Union, and 54% of German Internet users were online shoppers.
Shopping.com, owned by eBay, launched in the United States in 1997, the United Kingdom in 2001, and in France earlier this year.
