Slone Will Have Responsibility for OfficeMax`s Supply Chain Operations
ITASCA, Ill., Feb. 2 -- OfficeMax(R),
Incorporated (NYSE: OMX), one of the nation`s largest office supply
distributors, announced that Reuben E. Slone has been named
executive vice president, supply chain. Slone will have
responsibility for both retail and contract supply chains,
including all PowerMax distribution facilities.
Prior to joining OfficeMax, Slone worked for the Whirlpool
Corporation, most recently as vice president, global supply chain.
While at Whirlpool, Slone led the transformation of the company`s
supply chain during the last four years. Previously, he held
executive positions at General Motors, Federal-Mogul and Ernst &
Young.
"Further development of the supply chain is a major initiative
for OfficeMax, and led us to create this new position that reports
directly to me," said Chris Milliken, president and CEO of
OfficeMax. "I am confident that Reuben has the energy and
experience to lead the continuous improvement efforts of our
world-class supply chain operations."
Slone has received numerous honors and recognition for his work
in supply chain and e-business including authoring an article titled
"Leading a Supply Chain Turnaround," published in the October 2004
issue of Harvard Business Review. Slone holds a B.S. in engineering
from the University of Michigan, where he graduated cum laude and
received a Graduate Fellowship in Mechanical Engineering.
