BabyUniverse Inc. is reporting a solid third quarter. For the third quarter, BabyUniverse had total sales of $5.7 million, an increase of 46.1% compared to sales of $3.9 million in the third quarter of 2004.
For the third quarter, BabyUniverse also reported a net loss of $125,275, compared to net income of $45,095 for Q3 2004.
For the first nine months of the year, BabyUniverse, which acquired DreamTimeBaby.com in September, is reporting pro forma combined sales of $22.1 million, compared to pro forma sales of $14.7 million in the first nine months of 2004, an increase of 50.3%. For January through September, pro forma net income was $447,142 versus pro forma net income of $720,416 in the first nine months of 2004, a decrease of 38%.
"It is important to understand, given the materiality of the DreamtimeBaby.com acquisition, that the third quarter results are primarily reflective of the business that we 'were', whereas the pro forma results are reflective of the business that we 'are,’” says BabyUniverse CEO John Textor.
BabyUniverse is No. 224 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites.
