BabyUniverse sales jump 46% in Q3

BabyUniverse Inc. is reporting a solid third quarter. For the third quarter, BabyUniverse had total sales of $5.7 million, an increase of 46.1% compared to sales of $3.9 million in the third quarter of 2004.

For the third quarter, BabyUniverse also reported a net loss of $125,275, compared to net income of $45,095 for Q3 2004.

For the first nine months of the year, BabyUniverse, which acquired DreamTimeBaby.com in September, is reporting pro forma combined sales of $22.1 million, compared to pro forma sales of $14.7 million in the first nine months of 2004, an increase of 50.3%. For January through September, pro forma net income was $447,142 versus pro forma net income of $720,416 in the first nine months of 2004, a decrease of 38%.

"It is important to understand, given the materiality of the DreamtimeBaby.com acquisition, that the third quarter results are primarily reflective of the business that we `were`, whereas the pro forma results are reflective of the business that we `are,’” says BabyUniverse CEO John Textor.

BabyUniverse is No. 224 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites.
