
With 10% growth in visitors, eBay continues to lead shopping/travel sites
The eBay juggernaut just keeps rolling. Unique visitors to eBay grew 10% in March from a year earlier to 61 million, keeping eBay atop the heap of shopping and travel web sites, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. In fact, eight of the 10 sites experienced growth in March over a year ago, with only Shopzilla, with an 8% decline, and Dell, down 15%, suffering losses.
The top 10 shopping and travel sites in March with unique visitors this year, unique visitors a year ago (in millions), and percent growth, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, were:
- eBay, 61.07, 55.57, 10%
- Amazon, 42.06, 40.72, 3%
- Target, 21.76, 18.57, 17%
- Wal-Mart Stores, 19.81, 18.62, 6%
- Shopping.com Network, 18.40, 18.00, 2%
- Shopzilla.com Network, 17.57, 19.10, -8%
- Expedia, 17.32, 16.39, 6%
- Orbitz Worldwide Network, 15.71, 11.91, 32%
- Travelocity, 14.42, 13.60, 6%
- Dell, 14.05, 16.46, -15%
(Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many time that shopper visited.)
Nielsen/NetRatings’ AdRelevance report also ranks online consumer goods advertisers in terms of impressions. The top 10 (in millions of online impressions) were:
