ValueClick’s Q1 revenue grows 34% over year earlier
First quarter revenue at online marketing company ValueClick Inc., which owns include Commission Junction, ValueClick Media, Mediaplex and PriceRunner, grew 34% over Q1 a year ago to $156.9 million from $117.3 million, the company reports. While the growth in Q1 revenue included revenue from Shopping.net, which it acquired late last year, growth excluding that acquisition was still 33%, the company notes.
Net income for the first quarter reached $18.6 million, up 89% compared to $9.8 million a year earlier.
Revenue in ValueClick’s affiliate marketing operation, which includes Commission Junction, grew 22% to $32.8 million from $26.8 million a year earlier. The affiliate unit had income from operations of $16.95 million, up 22% from $13.9 million a year earlier.
Revenue in the comparison shopping segment, made up of PriceRunner.com and Shopping.net, reached $8.6 million, up 55% from $5.5 million a year ago. Income from operations of the comparison shopping unit was $543,000 compared to a loss of $120,000 a year earlier.
The media division, which is advertising-based services, had revenue of $108.4 million, up 36% over a year earlier from $79.4 million. The media segment had income from operations of $25.8 million, up 38.7% from $18.6 million a year earlier.
The technology division’s revenue reached $7.47 million, up 29% from $5.77 million a year ago, with income from operations of $2.58 million, up 88% from $1.37 million a year earlier.
The company expects total revenue this year to reach $655 million to $665 million.
