Longo Brothers Fruit Markets Selects Tomax Retail.net®

Progressive, regional Canadian supermarket chain commits to single-instance, realtime vision

Salt Lake City, UT, February 11, 2005 ...Tomax Corporation is pleased to announce the completion of agreements and the commencement of implementation of Tomax Retail.net software solutions at Longo`s Supermarket in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Longo`s is a highly regarded supermarket retailer in the greater Toronto market, currently operating fourteen locations. Family members founded Longo`s nearly fifty years ago as a fruit and produce market, a central focus that continues to this day. Members of the Longo family travel each morning, six days a week, to the Ontario food terminal to purchase the fresh produce they carry in their stores.

"We completed an exacting analysis of our requirements and believe that Tomax and Retail.net are the best solution for Longo`s. We`re committed to the vision of a simplified IT strategy based on single-instance, realtime access to information," says Anthony Longo, CEO for Longo Brothers Fruit Markets.

Implementation is underway for Retail.net, initially focusing on inventory accuracy, Longo`s is committed to streamlining the supply chain process through automation. Accurate perpetual inventory, though historically challenging in the grocery market, is the priority. As a part of maximizing the supply chain process, Longo`s will deploy Tomax Retail Resource Planning (RRP TM ) to provide the entire organization visibility of planned inventory by site, a full year into the future! In addition to inventory the initial phase will include pricing and promotions management, label printing, DSD receiving, and full deployment of Tomax RF applications. Future phases may include Tomax Workforce Management solutions in the areas of labor scheduling and time and attendance, which can be considered for deployment at any time on a discrete basis.

“After a very involved vendor selection process we chose Tomax because of their architecture and deep integration of functions across the enterprise. We also were attracted to Tomax` strong track record and commitment to the grocery market,” says John Charleson, Director of IT, for Longo Brothers Fruit Markets.

Tomax Supermarket Initiative
At last year`s Visibility conference, executives from fourteen grocery and drugstore retailers came together to discuss their IT needs and how Tomax solutions can align with those needs. Innovations in the areas of fresh items, production and perishables management, enhancements in pricing and promotions management, extensions to the POS platform, and analytics and strategic tools to improve planning, forecasting and replenishment are among the initiatives that resulted from that meeting.

“We are very excited about participating in the Tomax supermarket initiative and happy to see a software provider focusing on the needs of grocery chains,” says John Charleson, Director of IT, for Longo Brothers Fruit Markets.
