Mondays continue to be the biggest online shopping days during the holiday season, according to a new study from Atlas, a provider of digital marketing technologies.
“Mondays are to online retailers what weekends are to offline retailers,” said Young-Bean Song, director of analytics, Atlas. “Our study clearly shows customers shop in the store on the weekends and on Monday continue their holiday shopping experience, searching for better prices and bargains online.”
During the 2004 holiday shopping season, the busiest day for online shopping was on a Monday, Atlas found. It was the third consecutive year that Mondays were the peak shopping days during the holiday season. Consumers typically made their online purchases between noon and 3 p.m.
Atlas also found that online holiday shopping is steady and strong until five to seven days before Christmas.
Atlas, an operating unit of aQuantive Inc., based its report on the analysis of holiday shopping behavior between Nov. 22, 2004, and Jan. 31, 2005, across 96 leading e-commerce companies that use the Atlas Suite for their online campaigns.
