Card sites’ volume spiked just before Easter, Nielsen/NetRatings reports
Easter drove web traffic to greetings cards and cooking sites, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.
American Greetings had the most activity, registering 2.35 million users the week before Easter, up 88% from the week before. Yahoo Greetings registered 1.82 million users the week before Easter, up 121% vs. the week before. Hallmark.com reached 1.52 million users, up 234% from the previous week--the highest growth among the six major cards sites. BlueMountain.com hosted 1 million visitors, up 94%; DaySpring.com., 529,000, up 137%; and 123greetings.com, 510,000, up 104%.
"With more than 7 million people visiting an online greeting card site during the week before Easter, sending and receiving online greetings remains a popular way for Americans to connect with each other," says Lisa Strand, director and chief analyst, Nielsen//NetRatings.
Nielsen/NetRatings also reported that traffic to AllRecipes.com grew 67% among at-home users for the week ending April 20, attracting 564,000 unique visitors compared to 395,000 the week prior.
