Urban Outfitters moves to new corporate headquarters
Urban Outfitters, a multi-channel apparel retailer, is moving to a new Philadelphia corporate campus that will contain its headquarters and the operations of its three brands: Anthropologie, Free People and Urban Outfitters.
The new campus will support the company’s expectations of doubling its business over the next five years, Urban Outfitters said. The campus will be developed in multiple phases in Philadelphia’s Navy Yard, starting with an estimated $40 million renovation of eight historic buildings totaling 287,000 square feet. The initial phase will provide for the consolidation of more than 500 corporate employees from five other Philadelphia locations. Additional development phases may add another 100,000 square feet through the renovation of adjacent buildings.
“The Navy Yard provides us with a spectacular and unique opportunity to create a brand-appropriate campus, consolidate our staffs and support our dynamic growth while remaining in our home town of Philadelphia,” said chairman and president Richard A. Hayne.
