Overstock launches Chrysler promotion in first-ever automotive partnership

Continuing its drive into expanded markets, including auctions and mobile commerce, online closeout retailer Overstock.com has extended its reach into the automotive sector. In its first marketing partnership with an automotive brand, Overstock has launched a promotion with Chrysler Group in which Chrysler will offer Overstock.com shoppers exclusive deals of up to $8,900 off MSRP on the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Coupe and Crossfire Roadsters.

To redeem the offer, which will run on the site through January 3, 2006, Overstock.com visitors enter their e-mail address in a form provided on Overstock’s web site. Overstock then sends the registered shopper a printable reservation certificate to the e-mail address submitted. Customers print the certificate and take it to a participating Chrysler dealer to redeem the offer. Overstock also is putting information about the entire Chrysler Crossfire lineup on its web site.

Overstock also recently announced a program that lets subscribers to Verizon Wireless cell phone service to use cell phones or other handheld, web-enabled devices to receive marketing messages from Overstock and shop on Overstock.com.
