Amazon.ca, the Canadian operation of Amazon.com Inc., has been hired by HMV Canada to operate HMV.com. HMV is a London-based retailer of CDs and DVDs with 100 stores in Canada and 246 stores primarily in the U.K, Japan and Australia.
The co-branded site will feature Amazon.ca’s selection of CDs, videos and DVDs at Amazon.ca`s prices. It will also feature Amazon’s Free Super Saver Shipping program on orders over $39.
Amazon.ca will provide inventory, content and customer service. Fulfillment will be handled by Assured Logistics, the current fulfillment provider for Amazon.ca. The site will provide information about HMV store locations, jobs and in-store events.
While Amazon.com has provided similar services to retailers in the U.S. and elsewhere, the agreement with HMV is the first for Amazon.ca. HMV has operated HMV.com since July 1999.
