G-LOG GROWS ANNUAL REVENUE BY MORE THAN 15 PERCENT; NAMES FORMER RYDER EXECUTIVE TO LEAD WORLDWIDE SALES
Michael Shelton Joins Rapidly Growing Logistics Software Leader as Senior Vice President of Global Sales Operations
SHELTON, Conn.--Feb. 24, 2005-- G-Log, the leading provider of global logistics and transportation software, announced today that it posted record revenues for the end of the fourth quarter 2004, highlighted by annual revenue growth of more than 15 percent compared with 2003. Also today, the company announced it has appointed L. Michael Shelton as senior vice president of global sales operations. A former senior executive at Ryder where he drove record net sales growth for its largest division, Shelton is widely recognized for his strong leadership and customer-centric approach. Shelton will lead G-Log’s worldwide sales initiatives and spearhead acquisition of additional Global 2000 customers.
“Our growth can be attributed to issues such as global trade management, supply chain security, and RFID mandates that are seriously challenging companies today – and the best way to address the complexity of these dynamic supply chain requirements is to standardize on a single software platform,” said David Cairns, CEO for G-Log.
Cairns notes that while other supply chain industry solution providers continue to struggle, G-Log is thriving. The company currently serves more than 40 blue-chip clients, including global giants DuPont, Exel, Halliburton, and Tesco. Collectively, G-Log’s customers account for more than $6.7 billion in freight spend.
“Global logistics giants make tradeoffs every day, but they often do so with blinders on,” said Dwight Klappich, vice president, META Group. “Business units operate like islands, separated not only by geography, but by competing interests that often pit departments against one another. This drive to cut costs on their respective ledgers is often in direct conflict with what they need to do to improve bottom line results for the enterprise as a whole. Large global organizations must be able to operate synergistically and intelligently evaluating tradeoffs between inventory and transportation and making the best collaborative decision for all involved.”
Klappich notes that “emerging technologies like G-Log’s are now giving companies an opportunity to address these challenges with a network-centric approach to logistics.”
The only single system that supports an integrated logistics management (ILM) network across multiple modes, business units, and geographies, the Web-native G-Log Global Command and Control Center™ (GC3™) software optimizes shipments across every leg of the supply chain. From shipment order to freight settlement regardless of business unit, transportation mode, or geography G-Log’s software typically reduces transportation costs by 12-15 percent and removes 1-3 days from the logistics life cycle.
Maximizing Growth with a Winning Team
With nearly 25 years of executive sales and marketing management experience in the supply chain and logistics industry, Shelton has a proven track record of building world-class sales teams that repeatedly outperform forecasts – which makes him a solid addition to the G-Log team.
“Achieving year-over-year revenue growth in today’s economic climate is no small feat, and it’s part of the reason I was intrigued by this company,” Shelton said. “Having spent decades working hand-in-hand with customers, I understand their complex problems and feel strongly about helping them find solutions to their supply chain issues. Working with G-Log – which boasts the world’s largest development team devoted to transportation and logistics software – is a true privilege as I am now part of a team possessing the strongest suite of logistics solutions to help Global 2000 companies achieve their full market potential.”
Shelton recently served as executive vice president of sales, marketing, and client services for NewRoads, a leader in outsourced fulfillment and customer service solutions for companies engaged in the “last mile” of the supply chain. During his tenure at NewRoads, the company was named to the Inc. 500 as the 37th fastest growing privately held company in the U.S.
During his nearly 20-year career at Ryder, Shelton held various leadership roles in operations, sales, marketing and e-commerce. He is a member of the Council of Logistics Management and prestigious Ryder Roundtable (recognizing top global sales achievements within the company). Shelton’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Carolina University.
