Food Lion adds the Endless Aisle to its web site

Supermarket chain Food Lion is adding e-commerce to its non-transactional web site with Nexpansion’s Endless Aisle technology. The Endless Aisle technology offers 30,000 products beyond those sold in Food Lion stores. The technology will be branded as the Special Order Service at FoodLion.com. The Endless Aisle offers a selection of ethnic and specialty foods, baby care and beauty products, special dietary needs, natural and organic items, pet supplies, housewares and gifts.

"Innovation and customer satisfaction are cornerstones of Food Lion's business," said Kevin Pruitt, category manager for Food Lion. "With the Special Order Service, we are leveraging new technology to provide our customers with significantly more choices and an even more positive shopping experience."

Food Lion operates 1,185 supermarkets in 11 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. It is part of the Brussels-based Delhaize Group.
