Luggage Online’s sales shoot up 70% over Thanksgiving weekend


Sales at Luggage Online from Thanksgiving through the following Monday were up 70% compared to the same period a year ago, Luggage Online tells InternetRetailer.com. Traffic to the site for the same time period was up 29%. "We are extremely pleased with our sales this past weekend. Monday was the biggest day in Luggage Online`s history," says Tim Jacobsen, vice president of e-commerce. Monday`s sales were up 50% from last year, with traffic up 26%.

Luggage Online attributes the growth to a re-designed web site, a sitewide 10% off sale, and closeout pricing on some popular lines. The company expects online sales to peak in mid December.

Jacobsen reports that Luggage Online has been growing at a rate of 40% per year since 1998 and has experienced an acceleration in growth since it launched the redesigned site in August. "Our newly designed web site is playing a big part in growing our business. Conversions are up 27% over last year for the past week," Jacobsen says. The new site, designed by Fry Inc., features a redesigned layout, improved navigation and search, an improved checkout process, and new shopping tools.
