Gaptidings.com lets shoppers make holiday greetings videos

Gap Inc. and Yahoo Inc. are helping consumers make and share video holiday greetings. Consumers can create their own one-minute greeting videos and post them on Gaptidings.Yahoo.com to share with family and friends. The site also features holiday messages from actors, athletes and other celebrities.

From now until the end of the year, consumers can record a video greeting – with their own camera – personalize it, and upload it to the web site. They also can search, watch and share original video greetings created by people around the country including celebrities featured in Gap’s holiday ad campaign. Gap is No. 27 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

The web site includes tips on making videos and steps for uploading them to Gaptidings.Yahoo.com. Consumers also can create a widget that presents the maker’s video in a gift box illustration on their personal pages on social networking sites MySpace.com and Facebook.com.

Holiday greeting video viewers also are encouraged to rate them. Those chosen most often are posted under a “Top-Rated Greetings” tab along with Gap’s picks for the most creative and original video greetings. Voters and a panel of judges will help decide who will win one of three 2007 Limited Edition Vespa LX50 scooters, customized by Gap.

“Gaptidings is a clever way for Gap to empower consumers to reach out to loved ones around the holidays with personalized video messages,” says Conn Fishburn, Yahoo’s director of social media strategy. “It enables them to develop a deeper connection with their customers in a fun, engaging way.”
