GSI scores a new customer with NFLShop.com

GSI Commerce Inc. has taken over operation of the National Football League’s web store, NFLShop.com. The site had been operated by Foot Locker.

GSI Commerce is providing technology, fulfillment, customer service, merchandising and marketing services and will oversee the NFL’s direct-to-consumer sales of licensed NFL merchandise. Merchandise sold on NFLShop.com will include authentic, replica and customized jerseys, hats, collectibles, tailgate party products, DVDs and other fan gear. GSI Commerce will also provide marketing services for NFLShop.com including paid search, affiliate marketing, advertising with comparison shopping engines and e-mail marketing.

In addition to its e-commerce responsibilities, GSI Commerce will manage production and mailing of the NFL Shop catalog and manage merchandise sales for NFL direct response television promotions on a national and regional basis.

“This is an exceptional fit for our company and the NFL,” said Michael G. Rubin, chairman and CEO of GSI Commerce. “We have a very successful history in e-commerce with sporting goods and with professional sports leagues in particular.”

GSI Commerce also provides e-commerce solutions for Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League and NASCAR.
