HP is cutting paper and steps out of cumbersome rebate process
Paper-based product rebates soon will be history with the rollout of Hewlett-Packard Home & Home Office Store’s online process. All consumer technology products bought through the HPShopping.com web site are eligible.
The “paperless” rebate program was developed in response to customer requests, company officials say. It gives U.S. customers the option to redeem rebates by entering online their order number and billing ZIP code, instead of completing a mail-in rebate form. The simplified process, which launched earlier this month, is designed to offer customers greater convenience.
“The HP Home Store continually gathers feedback from our customers in order to improve their online experience; they told us that they wanted a simpler rebate program,” says Sam Taylor, senior vice president, consumer direct. “We responded by providing customers with the option to quickly and easily submit rebates online so that they can enjoy a simpler and more convenient shopping experience.”
Customers still can expect to wait eight to 10 weeks for rebate checks to come in the mail, but online submission is expected to get the process under way sooner, the company says. HP Home & Home Office Store is No. 5 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
Patricia Graca, manager, customer experience and web site production at HP Home & Home Office Store, will speak at Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition, June 4-7 in San Jose, in a workshop titled Site Usability: Better Navigation Keeps E-Shoppers On Board.
