The well heeled are now well connected via RSS at Nordstrom.com
Nordstrom Inc. wants its well heeled shoppers equally well connected.
To pull more shoppers back to the latest fashion trends and merchandise on Nordstrom.com, the company, No. 40 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, is introducing a really simple syndication program.
The new RSS feeds will enable shoppers to subscribe to personalized feeds on a product search page or to select "favorite feeds" such as “Sale Arrivals,” “Women`s Dresses” or “Men`s Jeans Guide.” An orange RSS feed button will appear on Nordstrom.com search pages along with instructions on how to sign up and receive each feed.
“Fashion is constantly evolving and by giving our customers the opportunity to see what`s new on our site in real time, we`re giving them even more of an opportunity to stay current," says Jamie Nordstrom, president of Nordstrom Direct. "We see this tool as a way to offer customers a more efficient way to shop for the products they`re looking for."
Nordstrom, which grew its e-commerce sales by 30% in 2006 and expects to become a $1 billion web retailer within several years, is working to make Nordstrom.com among the most interactive sites in the online apparel space.
In November, Nordstrom launched a designer section on Nordstrom.com which provides shoppers a graphical introduction to an illustrated mall of fashion designer boutiques for labels such as Missoni, Marc Jacobs and Burberry. This fall Nordstrom.com also will be updated with more new features that enable customers to assemble complete outfits online on a single page and proceed directly to checkout.
