eBay prepares to launch loyalty program with Dr. Pepper/Seven Up
Following its earlier success in selling merchandise to customers who paid with loyalty points earned at Burger King restaurants, eBay.com plans to begin accepting points this summer that shoppers earn from purchasing products from soft drink company Dr. Pepper/Seven Up Inc. It`s also looking to do the same with more food retailers. "We expect to announce other participants," an eBay spokesman says.
EBay wants to build on the success it has experienced through the food products loyalty program it has been running with Burger King, for which an initial test ended last year with strong results, eBay says. EBay notes that Burger King was recently acquired by Texas Pacific Group, which is reevaluating all of Burger King`s loyalty programs, but that eBay expects the program to remain active and strong.
EBay already has a relationship with Dr. Pepper/Seven Up, which launched a drink product last autumn with a charity auction of the first cases on eBay.
