FigLeaves to deploy web-based system to manage global deliveries

FigLeaves.com, a U.K.-based retailer of intimate apparel, is planning to launch a web-based global logistics management system that will enable it to manage deliveries through a planned international network of warehouses from its headquarters in London, CEO Michael Ross tells InternetRetailer.com. The new global warehouse and logistics management system, hosted by Cable and Wireless plc, will better enable the company to process growing international deliveries, including recent 20% month-to-month growth in the U.S., he adds.

The overall goal, Ross says, is to provide FigLeaves with greater control over multiple delivery options. For example, this will let FigLeaves view inventory levels and shipping schedules for each of its warehouses, enabling it to decide the most efficient delivery route for each order. "We`re close to launching a global logistics management system that will manage multiple warehouses and allow us to ship orders from the optimal location, depending on whether the customer is looking for speed, cost-savings, etc.," Ross says.

FigLeaves, which currently operates a single warehouse in London, is launching the global logistics management system amid plans to open additional warehouses in the U.S., Japan, Australia and Singapore. The U.S. warehouse is expected to open early next year, followed by the others. The global logistics management system will run on a web server providing data connections over the Internet to each warehouse.
