Range Hood Maker Vent-A-Hood Chose C. Pitman Baker & Associates to Redesign Company Website as a Powerful E-Commerce Tool
IRVING, Texas, March 14, 2005 – To address an increasingly sophisticated and Internet-savvy customer base, longtime range hood maker Vent-A-Hood has revamped its website as an E-commerce tool. The company used custom software developer C. Pitman Baker & Associates (CPBinc) of Irving, the same company that upgraded key website functions two years ago.
Vent-A-Hood, the oldest residential range hood manufacturer in the United States, has been in business since 1937. The successful manufacturer is in the middle of a 50,000-square-foot expansion of its Richardson, Texas, headquarters, and wanted a new and improved website to match.
“We are upgrading and improving across the board,” said James Adams, national sales manager for Vent-A-Hood. “We are making improvements to our product line as well as our overall image in the industry, and we saw it was time to take our website to the next level, to really reflect where we are in the marketplace.”
CPBinc produced a highly interactive and dynamic site for Vent-A-Hood. Two years ago, CPBinc created a website-based order entry process for the range hood maker’s distributors, making order confirmations and order status information more timely and accessible. That project involved creation of extensive middleware tools to interface with a proprietary accounting systems database.
The new CPBinc-designed website retains and enhances the distributor functions, and also caters to consumers. Features such as an interactive product selector and a user-friendly search function are new, allowing a customer to determine which model and color is right for their home.
“Customers are increasingly sophisticated,” explained Adams. “They are doing a lot more homework before they buy, so when they go to an appliance or kitchen dealer they can make a more informed decision. Our interactive product selector will help walk them through step by step, to find out which range hood is right for them.”
To drive consumers to the new website, Adams said Vent-A-Hood’s 2005 advertising campaign does not list a telephone number for contact, only the www.ventahood.com website address.
The new website includes distributor-specific pricing functions, built-in bulletin board capabilities for distributor communication, downloadable product images, and more.
“When we upgraded the website two years ago to broaden its capabilities for Vent-A-Hood distributors, it paid off with many very happy distributors,” said C.
