Consumers love to track their packages, UPS says

Customers expecting packages delivered via UPS are an impatient lot. UPS.com hosts 700,000 unique visitors a day, who make 7.9 million package tracking requests, UPS tells InternetRetailer.com. UPS re-launched its web site at the end of March to make it easier for customers to track packages and for small retailers to use UPS services, a spokeswoman says. “We looked at the functions that customers use the most and moved them to the home page,” the spokeswoman says.

The site now serves 104 countries in 22 languages.

One of the new features on the home page is UPS Business Solutions, which takes users to a page that lists the comprehensive services that UPS provides, including retail, shipping and supply chain services. Retailers can also set up a MyUPS.com site where they store addresses and print labels.

FedEx Corp. says its FedEx.com receives an average of 2.1 million package-tracking requests per day, and that the site gets 7.1 million unique visitors per month.
