eBay leads home and garden web users


Home and garden web sites hosted 4.3 million unique visitors accessing the Internet from home PCs for the week that ended May 18, with the eBay.com Home category hosting half of them, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. EBay Home hosted 2.19 million visitors. In distant second place was HomeDepot.com at 524,000. Rounding out the top five spots were HGTV, 508,000; AOL House & Home, 508,000; and Lowes.com, 457,000.

The average visitor spent 7 minutes and 42 seconds on a home and garden site. Longest visits occurred at Lowes (9 minutes 25 seconds) and shortest at AOL House & Home (5 minutes 6 seconds).

On the advertising front, the largest share of home and garden ad impressions were gathered by Lenox Inc. Top 10 home and garden advertising brands and total impressions for each during the week, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, were:
Lenox, 21.25 million
Miracle-Gro, 6.33 million
Tupperware, 2.56 million
Febreze, 2.12 million
Trane, 1.74 million
Troy-Bilt, 562,000
Watkins Manufacturing, 378,000
Bounty, 357,000
Bounce, 357,000
