RealNetworks grows Q2 revenue by 8%
RealNetworks Inc., an online music provider and developer of digital media services and software, is reporting record revenue for the second quarter. For Q2 revenue grew 8% to $89.4 million from $82.7 million in Q2 a year ago, the company reports. Net income was $38.9 million vs. $4.7 million a year ago. RealNetworks, which owns the Rhapsody music service, is the developer of RealPlayer and develops computer and online games.
"We are pleased to report another quarter of continued growth and record revenue," says chairman and CEO Rob Glaser. "Our casual games business continues to be our fastest growth business, posting a 55% increase in revenue over the second quarter of last year."
RealNetworks also reports:
- Games sales of $21.2 million, up 55% over Q2 2005
- Music sales of $30.1 million, up 21%
- RealPlayer, related consumer products and other sales of $26.1 million, a decrease of 18%
- Technology products and solutions segment sales of $12 million, a decline of 1%
