Sharper Image’s web sales grow 39% in May while total sales are up 28%
Sharper Image Corp. continues to hit on all cylinders, with solid sales increases across all channels. Total sales for May increased 28% to $45 million from $35.2 million a year ago. Web sales increased 39% to $6.6 million from $4.8 million in May 2002. Store sales increased 31% to $25.9 million from $19.8 million, with comparable store sales up 19%. Catalog sales were up 16% to $12.4 million from $10.7 million. Web sales as a percent of total sales reached 14.7% from 13.6% a year ago.
For the year to date, total sales were 28% to $162 million from $126.8 million a year ago. Web sales were up 41% to $23.5 million from $16.7 million. Store sales were up 31% to $91.7 million from $69.8 million, while comparable store sales were up 19%. Catalog sales increased 16% to $46.7 million from $40.3 million. Web sales as a percent of total sales were 14.5% vs. 13.2% a year ago.
