Amazon to discuss best practices in e-retailing at Internet Retailer show
In his keynote address at the Internet Retailer 2005 Conference & Exhibition, Thomas G. Beckwith, vice president of Amazon Services, will share insights on how e-retailers can “unleash the retailing power of the web” through best practices in e-retailing and reveal details about one of the retailers, Bombay Co., that operates on the e-commerce Amazon platform.
Amazon Services provides client retailers with a fulfillment center, multi-channel call center and an e-commerce technology platform. The e-commerce platform includes features on which Amazon has built a reputation for a cutting-edge online shopping experience, such as its one-click checkout and personalized merchandising. Amazon’s retail clients also include Target.com, NBA.com, ToysRUs.com, Borders.com, CDNow.com, OshKosh B`Gosh and Bebe.com.
Beckwith will also discuss how retailers can build customer loyalty through integrated multi-channel retailing covering web, call centers and stores, and how Amazon Services is working with both technology partners and retailer clients to drive innovation in online shopping.
In September, Bombay relaunched its three retail web sites—Bombaycompany.com, BombayKids.com and BombayOutlet.com—on the Amazon platform. Among the features it rolled out to support holiday sales were a new Wish List gift registry that lets shoppers send gifts to multiple recipients in a single order, and online display of assembly instructions in PDF files to support purchases of furniture items.
