The Guild puts on real-world art exhibit

In the art world, sales of paintings, pictures and sculptures are made when aficionados have the chance to stroll through a gallery and see the artist’s creation up close and personal.

The Guild Inc., which operates ArtfulHome.com, has built up a multi-million dollar web retailing business replicating the look and feel of a successful gallery online. But now The Guild, No. 424 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, is entering the physical world of retailing with an art show in New York Nov. 16-18 that will feature furniture, jewelry and home accessories crafted by 150 of the web retailer’s most popular artists.

At the show, shoppers will have an opportunity to see the merchandise, meet the artists, and purchase the work both over the counter and online through commerce-enabled kiosks, says founder and CEO Toni Sikes. "The Artful Home Show is designed to bring together participating Guild artists, consumers and design professionals,” she says.

The show’s "artful home" concept will be illustrated by several nationally recognized interior designers selected by The Guild who will create room environments that reflect their interpretation. Each designer has been assigned the task of designing a vignette that mimics a room in a home, choosing art from The Artful Home catalog and ArtfulHome.com to complement the space, says Sikes.

The Guild carries an online selection of about 10,000 items crafted by artists.
