Comparing comparison sites

DiscountMore.com, a subsidiary of Idea Labz Corp. and sister company to SearchBoth.com, has relaunched its shopping web site. The site enables consumers to get the results from the top 26 comparison shopping sites on one page.

DiscountMore.com views comparison shopping sites like Shopping.com, PriceGrabber.com, ShopZilla.com, PriceRunner.com and Shopper.com essentially as search engines similar to Google and Yahoo—the difference being comparison shopping sites search for products and prices as opposed to news and web sites, the company says.

The problem online shoppers face, founder and CEO Bobby Kalili says, is “there are so many comparison shopping sites, who really has the lowest price?” The solution, he says, is to “search the top comparison shopping sites all at the same time and get the results all on one page.”

With the enhanced site, DiscountMore.com now also shows results from eBay.com, ubid.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Overstock.com and Buy.com. “We want to give our users a broad scope of results when they search for specific products,” Kalili says. “Most people would be curious to know if the product they are searching for is listed on eBay and for how much. Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Buy.com are not comparison shopping engines, however they have a lot of volume and buying power and should be checked as well.”

DiscountMore.com’s sister company, SearchBoth.com, enables users to search Google and Yahoo together on one split screen, side by side.
