Overstock.com’s books/music/video sales surpass 1 million units
Customers have purchased more than 1 million books, music and video products from Overstock.com Inc. since the online retailer launched its books/music/video category last November, the company reported today.
"Book sales have been particularly robust since we introduced our Compare-at-Amazon.com display in February, “ says Patrick Byrne, CEO. “This lets the consumer comparison shop on our site against Amazon.com, the de facto standard in online book sales.”
Overstock reports that its prices are on average 20% below Amazon’s and 39% off retail. It now offers 250,000 titles. Its offering numbered only a few thousand when it launched. It also offers more than 100,000 music and video titles.
Overstock say the millionth books-music-video item purchased from Overstock.com was the Bruce Springsteen CD The Rising.
