Coupons Inc. launches Duet for customized coupon loyalty programs

Coupons Inc.'s Coupons.com launched this week a new online coupon distribution service, Duet, that lets consumers request coupons only from certain retailers or particular product manufacturers. "So the consumer is not deluged with coupons she’s not interested in," Coupons Inc. CEO Steven Boal says.

The Duet service requires consumers to register for e-mailed coupons by providing personal information including their likes and dislikes in one or more product categories.

"This is very product-focused or retailer-focused," Boal says. "A consumer can sign up for a loyalty program to receive only coupons related to baby-care products, for example, or only coupons from a particular retailer."

Before launching this week, Duet was piloted by several pets foods manufacturers, whom Boal was not at liberty to identify. Duet has also received interest from consumer electronics and grocery retailers, Boal says.
