In a burst of online spending, sales shoot up 53% week ending Sept. 26
Online retail sales skyrocketed the week ending Sept. 26, up 53% from the corresponding week a year ago, reaching $1.35 billion from $882 million, comScore Networks Inc. reports.
Total retail sales were up 8.6% for the week ending Sept. 25, ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate reports.
Online growth was the strongest since the week ending April 11, when sales were up 57% from the same week a year earlier.
Online travel sales for the week ending Sept. 26 were up 72% to $1.19 billion from $692 million a year ago, comScore reports.
Usually issued on Mondays, comScore’s numbers didn’t come out this week until today.
