Muze and Audible.com launch audio book online retailing service
Muze, a provider of book reviews, pricing and other information that helps retailers organize sales of books and other media products, is combining its MuzeBooks service to online retailers with the audiobooks available from Audible.com, the two companies announced today. “The integration of these two services gives online booksellers who use MuzeBooks an easy way to make approximately 6,000 Audible.com audiobook titles available on their web sites,” Muze says.
Online retailers who subscribe to the combined service will use MuzeBooks to organize information on book titles, including whether a particular book is available in audio form. If an audiobook is available from Audible, shoppers will be able to click a link that takes them to Audible.com for purchasing an audiobook download to their personal computer or to a portable device like an Apple iPod or other media player.
Muze also provides a file of book cover images that online retailers can use to promote audio books on their web sites.
"Our relationship with Muze allows us to reach new potential customers by offering them access to complete product information through their favorite retailers," says Donald Katz, chairman and CEO of Audible.
Audible estimates that U.S. web downloads of audiobooks will reach $30-$32 million this year, up about 50% from last year. The average audiobook sells for about $30, Audible says.
