Gross merchandise sales at eBay Inc. reached $8.3 billion in the third quarter, up 44% from $5.8 billion in Q3 a year ago, eBay reports. Gross merchandise sales is the value of all products sold on eBay. Fixed-price trading account for 29% of gross merchandise sales, reaching $2.4 million.
Product listings reached 348 million, 48% higher than the 234.6 million in Q3 last year. Registered users reached 125 million, 46% higher than the 85.5 million a year ago, while active users (bid, bought, listed or sold during the past year) reached 51.7 million, a 38% increase over the 37.4 million a year ago.
EBay’s net revenue increased 52% in the quarter to $805.9 million from $530.9 million a year ago. U.S. net transaction revenue accounted for $330.6 million. International net transaction revenue reached $282.3 million and payments net transaction revenue was $166.3 million.
Net income was $182.3 million, up 77% from $103 million a year ago.
EBay’s PayPal subsidiary had 56.7 million account at the end of the quarter, up 61% from a year ago when it had 35.2 million accounts. Payment volume was $4.6 billion, up 52% from $3 billion a year ago.
