Former Liz Claiborne president Trudy Sullivan takes the reins at Talbots
Following brand-building leadership roles at apparel designers and retailers Liz Claiborne Inc. and J. Crew Group Inc., Trudy Sullivan is taking over as president and CEO of apparel retail chain The Talbots Inc.
Sullivan, who has 35 years of experience in retailing and merchandising, succeeds on Aug. 6 Arnold Zetcher, who is retiring as CEO but remaining as chairman through March 31, 2008. Talbot’s is No. 62 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
“Trudy is the perfect person to build on Talbots’ legacy as the retail destination for the 35+ customer,” Zetcher says. “We are fortunate to have attracted someone of her caliber to maximize the company’s significant growth potential and further develop the Talbots and J. Jill brands.”
Sullivan, 57, was responsible at Liz Claiborne for building and leading multiple apparel and non-apparel men’s and women’s brands. In addition to J. Crew, she has also worked for Jordan Marsh (now a part of Macy’s Inc.) and Filene’s Basement.
