MarketLive(tm) Express Provides Cost-Effective Way for Venerable School Supplies Retailer and Cataloger to Boost Sales and Improve Merchandising Online

Petaluma, CA -- April 10, 2003 -- Multimedia Live (MML) (http://www.mmlive.com), the leading developer of e-commerce technology and services for Intelligent Selling(tm) on the Web, announced today that it has created and launched a new e-commerce website for educational materials supplier J. L. Hammett Co. (http://www.hammett.com). The site runs on MML`s MarketLive(tm) Express e-commerce application, which provides advanced e-commerce functionality for effective online merchandising in an extremely cost-effective deployment. The site is designed to support schools and teachers in their search for high-quality teaching materials and classroom supplies for elementary-level schools and home learning.

The J. L. Hammett Company was started in 1863 as a textbook publisher. Throughout the succeeding generations the company`s focus broadened and now it offers textbooks on all subjects, learning-oriented toys, resources for teachers, classroom décor, and much more. The company sells through its catalog and through its 63 "Hammett`s Learning World" retail stores across the country. The J. L. Hammett Company selected Multimedia Live to create its new online presence because of MML`s reputation for creating highly effective e-commerce websites that increase sales and incorporate the latest best practices for online merchandising and product presentation.

The new site takes advantage of a number of MarketLive Express features, including Catalog Quick-Shop, display templating, personal accounts, and a store locator. Because MarketLive Express is 100% Java(tm)-based, it allows easy integration with virtually any other application a client may be using. In this instance, MML integrated the new site with the company`s existing retail inventory and pricing system from KWI.

Custom programming provides a convenience feature for teachers who may want to order online but who also need their orders approved by others. After shopping the site and selecting products, the user has the option of printing a printer-friendly order summary or purchase order that lists all items line by line. Order totals, including tax and shipping, are listed at the bottom. The purchase order can be circulated in hard copy to the approving party, and the order can then be faxed to J. L. Hammett`s customer service center or completed online.

"Companies like J. L. Hammett are finding it more and more important that they take full advantage of the merchandising capabilities offered by the Web," said Ken Burke, Multimedia Live President and CEO. "MarketLive Express provides the end-to-end service and the level of e-commerce functionality that many catalogers and retailers want. We build a strong foundation based upon e-commerce best practices, and support the client as their business evolves. Our methods and experience allow the client to focus on selling, rather than on running and fine-tuning their e-commerce website."
