Sportsman’s Guide’s web sales reach 41% of all sales

Internet sales at The Sportsman`s Guide Inc.’s core business in the third quarter accounted for more than 41% of total sales, the company reports. Internet sales accounted for about 36% of total base business sales for the same period in 2003, the company says. Total Q3 sales, including Sportsman’s Guide’s core business and sales at The Golf Warehouse, which the company acquired in June, were $56.6 million, up 37% from $41.2 million a year ago.

Sportsman’s Guide attributes the strong growth in online sales to its acquisition of The Golf Warehouse. “TGW, with the majority of its sales generated through the Internet, has changed our company`s profile as we are now more of an on-line retailer than we were previously," says Gregory R. Binkley, president and CEO. He also says that Internet sales in the base Sportsman’s Guide business increased.

The company reported net earnings of $1.1 million compared to $710,000 a year ago.

For the first nine months of 2004, sales were $140 million, an increase of 14% from $123 million in the first nine months of 2003. The company had net earnings of $3 million vs. $2.3 million a year ago.
