Internet-based sales at J. Jill Group Inc. grew 28% in the third quarter to $18.2 million from $14.2 million in Q3 last year, the company reports. Total sales grew 15.3% to $94.9 million from $82.3 million in the year-ago quarter. The web accounted for 19% of all sales in Q3 vs. 17.2% a year ago. The company had a net loss of $2.6 million in the quarter vs. $2.8 million a year ago.
In the first nine months, web sales grew 19.2% to $59.4 million from $49.8 million while total sales grew 20% to $315.4 million from $262 million. The web accounted for 18.8% of all sales vs. 19% a year ago. In the first nine months, the company earned $6.1 million vs. $4 million a year ago.
Catalog sales declined in both the quarter and the first nine months, down 8.1% to $23.9 million from $26 million in the quarter and 8.6% in the first nine months to $85.7 million from $93.9 million. Catalog accounted for 25% of sales in the third quarter vs. 31.6% a year ago and 27% of sales in the first nine months vs. 35.8% a year ago.
