Amazon book-selling service steals a page from Cendant, suit claims

Amazon, known for setting the pace in online personalization for shoppers in its database, is infringing on a Cendant Corp. patent when it recommends books or other products purchased by other shoppers, Cendant says in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Wilmington, DE.

Cendant, a diversified provider of travel and real estate services, is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages in the suit, which was filed Oct. 29.

A spokeswoman for Amazon said the retailer’s policy is not to comment on litigation.
