Online sales on Visa cards up 33% year-to-year in first week of November


Online sales transacted on U.S. Visa credit and debit cards rose 33.4% over last year to $1.96 billion for the week ending Nov. 7, according to Visa USA. Overall, the total volume of spending on U.S.-based Visa-branded cards rose 15.7% to $22 billion for the week over the same period last year.

The number of e-commerce transactions online for the week rose 24.9% over last year to 24,921,347, with the average e-commerce ticket $78.67. Total consumer retail spending using Visa-branded cards for the week was up 7.7% to $7.3 billion, reflecting 106,525,919 transactions and an average ticket of $68.70.

Overall, the total number of transactions using Visa cards rose 19.8% to 383,665,530 over the same period last year, with the average ticket in all Visa card transactions $57.59.
