DELRAY BEACH, FL (April 28, 2005) Ecometry, the industry leading provider of software for multi-channel commerce companies, today announced that one of its largest clients, Cornerstone Brands, has successfully migrated its brand Ballard Designs from their Ecometry legacy system to the Open Systems version of Ecometry running on Windows 2003 servers, utilizing the Oracle database on HP UNIX servers.
Cornerstone Brands is the parent of seven multi-channel commerce companies that sell upscale lifestyle products targeted to affluent, well-educated consumers. The company currently licenses 900 Ecometry users in West Chester OH, Atlanta GA, Novato CA. and Corona CA., where Ecometry processes catalog and ecommerce orders. Ecometry also powers the POS transactions for Ballard Designs’ three stores and for another Cornerstone title, Frontgate, which has four stores.
Ballard’s migration was completed on March 19th and 20th. Last December another Cornerstone company, Smith& Noble, successfully went live with Ecometry on Open Systems. This was a new installation, not a migration.
Doris Kelley, Senior Manager of Business Systems for CCSG (Cornerstone Consolidated Services Group) stated, “Smith and Noble and Ballard Design are currently running on the Open Systems version of Ecometry and we will be migrating another of our companies, either Cinmar or TravelSmith, before October 2005. Eventually we will have other brands coming into the fold on Ecometry. ”
Kelley added, “We at Cornerstone feel that the Ballard migration was a great success. Through thorough testing and planning as well as working closely with the Ecometry team, we were able to go live with very few issues and those issues were quickly resolved. We feel extremely confident about the migration of the remaining brands.”
Kelley continued: “We had to choose a scheduler and a spooler and get them to work together and integrate with Ecometry.” (They chose Appworx scheduler and Report2web as their spooler.) “And we also mapped the Ecometry financial interface into our Lawson accounting system.”
Kelley said she had been on the project for two years. In 2003 Cornerstone made the decision to migrate Ecometry to Open Systems “Everyone wanted to stay with Ecometry.” Kelley said. “The company invested in the new HP Unix9000 server and HP/Proliant Windows Servers in May of 2004.”
Kelley stressed, “We knew we might have slight glitches along the way but that’s nothing when you consider the enormity of what we have replaced.” She continued. “At the time of actual migration, we were prepared. Everything went seamlessly – there was no impact on production. In fact we brought two Ecometry employees on site to help with the migration, but it went so smoothly we sent them both home early.” She also had high praise for the project manager and team at Ecometry that helped facilitate the migration: “The support was outstanding – there are so many people that we want to thank - we can’t name them all. But they were all wonderful!”
Ecometry President and CEO, John Marrah, stated; “We’re pleased that Cornerstone is migrating three of its companies to Ecometry Open Systems.” He added, “When a large Ecometry client such as Cornerstone successfully and painlessly transitions to Open Systems, it serves as an example and benchmark for our other clients who are planning to migrate. We look forward to Doris Kelley sharing her experiences at our Ecometry World Conference in June.”
