Drugstore.com’s Q2 sales rise 22% as loss continues to narrow
For its second quarter, Drugstore.com Inc. reported a net loss of $4.6 million on net sales that rose 22% over the year-ago ago-quarter to a record $58.2 million, the company reported. Net loss for the quarter narrowed from last year’s $14 million. EBIDTA loss for the quarter was a record low $2.1 million.
Drugstore’s average net revenue per order increased by 9%, or $6, to $74, while average annual spending per active customer is now $166, up from $154 a year ago. Drugstore’s active customer base has grown to 1.3 million, up from 1.1 million in the second quarter of last year.
Drugstore’s second-quarter results, demonstrate its commitment to drive profitable growth into its business, says CEO Kal Raman. “We believe our relentless focus to provide relevant product offerings, personalized solutions, and award-winning customer service is driving both customer satisfaction and meaningful bottom-line results,”
he says.
Previously, Raman has said the company’s goal is to achieve profitability on an EBIDTA basis in the fourth quarter of this year. In the third quarter, Drugstore anticipates net sales of $57 million to $59 million and a loss on an EBIDTA basis of $2.6 million to $3.3 million.
