Kmart launches a redesigned and beefed up web site


It`s official—Kmart Holding Corp. has re-launched its web site. The company says the new site, designed and built by Fry Inc., features a more user-friendly interface, with easier navigation, a better search function and a diversified product assortment. InternetRetailer.com reported the pending re-launch last week.

The site also has added brand shops such as Martha Stewart Everyday, Thalia Sodi, Jaclyn Smith, and Route 66 that are exclusive to Kmart. It also introduces a new partnership with Martha Stewart Flowers. Among the merchandise improvements is a a wider assortment of apparel.

The Troy, MI-based retailer has also added how-to`s on subjects from jewelry to digital cameras, with content from industry experts.

Shoppers can also browse the weekly store circular online format and purchase certain items online directly from the circular. They can also create a store shopping list based on items listed in their circular.

Kmart is promoting the site with a daily giveaway of $500 in Kmart.com merchandise through Dec. 24.

Kmart is using NewRoads for order fulfillment, Endeca Technologies for site search and browse and Commerce Hub for drop-ship management.
